Political music choice of the week.

Category: Uncategorized — admin @ 5:06 pm

I’m going to try to remember to post the lyrics to some of my favorite political music every week. I tend to be a bit scattered some times, so if I forget to post at some point you can beat me over the head with a drum stick.
This week I’m starting out with a song from Linkin Park. I’ve been a long time fan of theirs and was thrilled when I heard “Hands Held High”. I think the guys really nailed it on this one and I’m sure you’ll agree. I know quite a few people who get mad when they listen to it because the lyrics are so dead on accurate with what’s been going on the last few years…

“Hands Held High”
Linkin Park - Minutes to Midnight

Turn my mike up louder I got to say something
Light weights step to the side when we come in

Feel it in your chest the syllables get pumping
People on the street they panic and start running

Words on loose leaf sheet complete coming
I jump in my mind and summon the rhyme, I’m dumping

Healing the blind I promise to let the sun in
Sick of the dark ways we march to the drum and

Jump when they tell us that they wanna see jumping
Fuck that I wanna see some fists pumping

Risk something, take back what’s yours
Say something that you know they might attack you for

Cause I’m sick of being treated like I have before
Like it’s stupid standing for what I’m standing for

Like this war’s really just a different brand of war
Like it doesn’t cater the rich and abandon poor

Like they understand you in the back of the jet
When you can’t put gas in your tank

These fuckers are laughing their way to the bank and cashing the cheque
Asking you to have compassion and have some respect

For a leader so nervous in an obvious way
Stuttering and mumbling for nightly news to replay

And the rest of the world watching at the end of the day
In their living room laughing like “what did he say?”

[Chorus:]
Amen
Amen
Amen
Amen
Amen

In my living room watching but I am not laughing
Cause when it gets tense I know what might happen

World is cold the bold men take action
Have to react or get blown into fractions

Ten years old it’s something to see
Another kid my age drugged under a jeep

Taken and bound and found later under a tree
I wonder if he had thought the next one could be me

Do you see the soldiers they’re out today
They brush the dust from bullet proof vests away

It’s ironic at times like this you pray
But a bomb blew the mosque up yesterday

There’s bombs in the buses, bikes, roads
Inside your market, your shops, your clothes

My dad he’s got a lot of fear I know
But enough pride inside not to let that show

My brother had a book he would hold with pride
A little red cover with a broken spine

On the back, he hand-wrote a quote inside
When the rich wage war it’s the poor who die

Meanwhile, the leader just talks away
Stuttering and mumbling for nightly news to replay

And the rest of the world watching at the end of the day
both scared and angry like “what did he say?”

[Chorus x6]

[x6]
With hands held high into the sky so blue,
As the ocean opens up to swallow you.

Matt Damon on Sarah Palin

Category: Politics, Uncategorized — admin @ 4:37 pm

Matt Damon sounds off about republican VP Palin. I think that Matt has some good questions here like does Palin really believe that dinosaurs were here a mere four thousand years ago? Do people really think she can go toe to toe with Putin? Check out the video and see if you agree with Damon’s concerns.

Yeah, I know I did that really negative Obama post…

Category: Politics — admin @ 9:58 pm

So why am I back to support Obama mode?

I think that is a pretty easy question to answer.  He is our best hope at this time.  But really it’s more than that.  I was so pissed over what happened with FISA that I lost my ever loving mind over it.  What I didn’t take time to consider is that every politician is going to do things you don’t agree with.  That’s what happens when you have one representing many.  You have to look at what is going on overall.  Some thing I chose not to do out of blind anger.  So I guess another name for this post could have been “Why anger clouds your judgement and is a bad, bad thing”.

Any one of the roughly 38 million americans who watched Obama’s acceptance speech can tell you that this man is about me, you and every one else.  He even said that during his speech.  And despite what “haters” keep saying about his experience I still believe that he will lead this country back to prosperity.

And as far as the experience goes does any one else realize that Abraham Lincoln, often referred to as one of the best presidents ever had just about as much experience as Obama does now and in damn near the same capacities…

One other thing I wanted to address quickly…
The whole celebrity status situation.
I’m not sure if I’m the only one that has realized this but, an election is a popularity contest.  I mean if you need me to spell it out for you here you go… One reason Bush was elected was because a lot of people felt like they could hang out and “have a beer with him”.  Yes my friends, several of our American brothers and sisters voted based on whether or not they could sit down and drink Budwiser with Bush.  Now if that isn’t proof positive that this country votes for president based off of random popularity I just don’t know what is.
